Wild Hog Bowhunt @ Texas-S Bowhunting Ranch
July 4 - Travel
Day
This afternoon Rick Philippi
and I are driving to Merle Smith's Texas-S
Bowhunting Ranch to bowhunt wild hogs on Wednesday and Thursday. If
you want to check out our past hunts at Texas-S here are the links for
the bowhunts in 1999 and 2000
and 2001 and 2004.
Part 1 - Rick Philippi
and I begin our bowhunt in the east Texas woods at Texas-S Bowhunting Ranch.
And we get into it right away. GO...

Part 2 - When we
reached an area with large boulders we saw a pack of hogs. But they were
walking away from us. We improvised. GO...
Part 3 - I knelt
by a tree as no less than 60 wild hogs walked toward me. GO...
Part 4 - Rick saw
a group of 30 wild hogs bedding down in the trees... and started stalking.
GO...
Part 5 - We decided
to break for lunch and walked toward camp, checking possible hog haunts
as we went. And found some at home. GO...
Part 6 - Hogs Everywhere
We Go ...
Rick and I were back in
Merle's wild hog woods at 2:30 and went to the nearest pond. A few hogs
were walking along the water's edge. GO...

The stalk came off perfectly.
But the next 4 minutes was off the map dangerous. GO...
