Day 4
Rain. And more rain. It let
up in late afternoon and we we went back out to hunt. I worked the brush
and Chad hunted a blind several hundred yards from Curve.
A group of javelinas walked
across the dirt road and I slipped up to where they crossed. A few steps
inside the brush and cactus I saw a lone javelina boar. This guy was old,
he was almost all black, instead of black and gray, and his frontal stripe
was missing. I took his picture. He looked like the Frankenstein of javelinas.
The javelina boar was very
big (for a javelina), it's hair was long and the typical javelina markings
were missing. I followed behind it and took a couple more pictures.

The boar disappeared into
the brush and I never saw him again.
I circled and picked up another
javelina, this time I blew off the picture taking and worked in close so
I could get a shot. It didn't work out.
Meanwhile, Chad had large
black wild hog boar walk out of the brush and into the road near his stand.
Chad aimed carefully and shot the boar in the vitals. It ran into the brush.
Chad wanted to wait before
taking up the track. In half an hour rain came pouring down. He immediately
took up the trail and marked where the hog had entered the brush. Daylight
was fading quickly and Chad left the trail to pick me up. We decided that,
due to the rain, we would wait until the morning to look for the boar.
The 4th day of the hunt is
over.
Tomorrow we go after the
hogs again.To Day 5
