 It
was 7:00 and already daylight when Sean, Keith Beam and Doug Crabtree got
in theie turkey hunting area. They walked and stopped several times to
call. Keith Beam said he heard a gobble in the woods and they set up the
blind and started calling. The Tom continued to gobble off and on for 20
minutes. Suddenly the gobbler flew in and landed 60 yards from the blind.
Doug Crabtree called with
the Woodhaven aluminum slate and the kamikaze gobbler came to the decoys
non stop. This is Sean's first year bowhunting. He has never shot a turkey
with his bow before and he asked Doug where to shot it.
"Shoot him between the bottom
of the waddles and the beard," Doug answered. And that's where Sean put
his arrow there. The gobbler dropped like he was hit with a sledge hammer.
Sean used a BowTech Allegiance
and Grim Reaper broadheads. Sean said, "The arrow hit between the beard
and waddles and almost cut his neck off. He didn't flop or anything, he
just folded up, instant death. They flew like my field points."
