BOWHUNT
FOR THE FLORIDA OSCEOLA
Keith Beam
(In Keith Beam's own words.)
"John, Brodie, Shawn, Doug
and I set up in two Double Bull Matrix blinds on Carl Saunders CC Ranch.
Hunting under the experienced and well versed Osceola guide David Mills.
Brodie and I were in the same blind, Brodie and Doug Crabtree were videeoing
from different perspectives. Doug made a few yelps. A gobbler answered
back. Some hens fired up -- telling us we had some competition. Doug poured
the coal to the gobbler."
"A second gobbler fired off
70 yards away in an oak hammock basin. Sweet purrs and clucks got him to
slip underneath the fence and he spotted the jake and hen decoy. He did
the 'sore footed stomp' all the way to the decoys. I let him strut for
a few seconds and then introduced him to the Guillotine. The gobbler slammed
to the earth."
"It was so fast and I have
always been calm and collected when I come to full draw. This time he came
in so fast my arm was shaking, drawing the bow."
Keith Beam is the co-owner
and co-founder of Double Bull
Archery and beginning April 1 Keith and his business partner Brooks
Johnson will begin an 8 state attack on the "wily feathered bird known
as 'cotton top', 'swamp gobbler', 'hill scooter'. The duo's TV show Double
Bull Outdoors a MOR production continues to grab new viewers each week
with its 3 kill format and you can expect to see these hunts next season
on channel 218 on the Dish and 604 on DirecTV.
Keith told me, "After 12
years exclusively bowhunting wild turkeys the excitement level continues
to sore. This Osceola completed my Grand Slam (multi-year) with the Guillotine
and is the first leg of a single season pursuit of the 4 specie Guillotined
gobblers."
"This is my first hunt with
David Mills and his group of friends, relatives and counter parts and I
can sincerely say this is one of the best, most enjoyable hunts I've ever
been on."
