Apr 25 - At The Gate
The weather turned bad right after daybreak. Four hens later I gave it up at 11:00. That afternoon the gobblers started talking and I called in three into the "gimme 3 steps" zone.

Apr 24 - I hunted the river and then set up at the "Gate" and hunted there in the afternoon. I saw a big bomber, slunger, longbeard at 256 yards and he was hooking it for the roost. Maybe he will come closer in the morning.

BOWHUNT FOR THE FLORIDA OSCEOLA

In Florida we are hunting with David Mills of Zolfo Springs, Florida in Central Florida's Osceola wild turkey country. David is an easy going, likable guy with a good sense of humor.

David Mills and I had been my ground blind long before daylight and the hens and gobblers started talking. It was very foggy and we didn't hear a bird fly down until just after 8:00. They talked to us some but didn't come in sight.
But Billy Yargus was busy seeing wild turkeys. To Billy's Hunt...

Opening Day Eve

David Mill sent everybody out to look and listen for roosting gobblers. I think he sent me to a pretty good spot. Check out the Pics... I set up a ground blind and am ready for tomorrow's opener. Recognizing Hens & Gobblers
The heads of hens and gobblers are different and their overall appearance has a different purpose. GO

The Difference Between Wild & Domestic?
Webster’s Dictionary defines "turkey" as: a theatrical production that has failed, three successive strikes in bowling, a stupid or foolish person and a large North American bird that can either be domestic or wild
The large bird is the turkey we're talking about and here is the difference between Domestic & Wild Turkeys

So What Is A Grand Slam, Anyway?
The Grand Slam consists of 1 each of all 4 of the North American wild turkey sub species.

Eastern

Merriam's

Osceola

Rio Grande
