This is the first year for
McCrea Outdoors to book Wild Turkey hunts. To say they have an abundance
of wild turkeys is an understatement. They have a huge wild turkey population.

This Spring season 100% of
the turkey hunters had shots and only one hunter did not bag a Tom (that
can happen on any hunt). McCrea Outdoors only takes 4 or 5 hunters at a
time on the Rocky Creek ranch, which is 25,000 acres - so there is
plenty of room for everyone.
The ranch Roy Keefer and
I hunted is Rocky Creek Ranch, 25,000 acres of and it has separate hunting
area for bowhunting and firearms. (Roy's
Buck Hunt and Roy's Turkey
Hunt.) McCrea hunts on 5 different ranches and has 55,000 acres of
top deer and wild turkey hunting. (Quail hunting is excellent also.)
Bowhunters hunt from Double
Bull blinds and shotgun hunters can use them or gun blinds. Turkey hunts
are 3 days. Hunts are guided one on one.
McCrea Outdoors is well know
for its Trophy Whitetail Buck hunts and has both trophy buck and management
buck hunts. Rock Creek Ranch has a buck doe ratio of 1 buck to 1.5 does
and the population is a deer to every 20 acres. Hunters always see a lot
of bucks.
All of McCrea's ranches are
on the Texas Managed Land Deer Program and game managed by a Texas Parks
& Wildlife Department Biologist. Every year helicopter surveys are
conducted and photos are taken of 250 - 300 bucks. (Pictures below are
bucks from last year's helicopter survey.
 
 
All deer hunts are guided.
The accommodations are two
newly remodeled farm houses with new appliances and comfortable bunk beds.
Meals are included and the food is good.

hunt I am the guest of Kenny McCrea of McCrea Outdoors out of San Angelo,
Texas. We are hunting on the 25,000 acre Rocky Creek Ranch.
Rocky Creek Ranch is one
of McCrea Outdoors 55,000 acres of prime whitetail deer, turkey and quail
