Hunt Report November 27

3:46am -- I woke up and starred at the alarm clock, thinking about where to hunt and when. Finally the digital display went from 4:59 to 5:00 and I turned it off and got up. A little oatmeal, some coffee, 3 Nullo tabs to zap my body odor, and a shower later I put on my hunting clothes and walked in the moonlight to the blind at the Rolled Wire Annex.

Frost was on the ground in places and it quickly disappeared when the sun came out. Nothing moved and at 8:00 I decided to sneak over to the food plot blind and wait a while.

 Above is a look through the Matrix ground blind window overlooking the area the deer use at the Rolled Wire Annex stand site. That's my video camera sticking up on the left side.

Before leaving I changed the disk in the Bushnell game camera. Eight pictures were on the disk I took out of the camera.

It's a short walk to the food plot blind and I settled in quietly. Careful not to make any noise, I eased the video and digital cameras out of their cases. 

Woops! A deer walked by me on the left. A buck. I picked up the camera and took its picture.

 The buck, an 8-point, paused and looked around. A mark on its right side got my attention. A gouge or cut from something.

But here is a closer look. From a fight with another buck? An arrow that only shaved hair off his side. We'll never know.

The buck was not hurt or bothered by it one bit. The buck left and later on I saw a doe with a smaller than usual yearling.

This afternoon I think I'll go to the Slew Hole. The game pole looks pretty naked without anything hanging on it.

AFTERNOON
At the Slew Hole I saw 3 solo does and 4 does in a group. The 4 does came right by my ladder stand, only a couple of yards away. I need to go back and move the stand a couple of trees back so I can get a shot without the deer being on top of me, woops, I mean right under me.
