October 21 - 23: Bowhunting - "A Proper Adventure"

After every morning's bowhunt Rhonda Carpenter cooks up delicious a home cooked breakfast for everyone. Today we are eating stuffed french toast, sausage and hash browns. Good stuff.

The first hunts ......

Timm watched the two does until dark, they never got in range. Ken and Steven drove up to pick him up and they followed the generous blood trail right to the hog 60 laying in the brush only yards away. Timm had heart shot it.

Chris Jeans was the second bowhunter to bring in some game, a mature doe. A buck was chasing the doe and it ran behind the Double Bull blind. Chris got down on his knees and pulled that side of the windows open and drew back, aimed and shot though the wall of the blind. The arrow hit the spine and the doe fell immediately. Chris took another shot the doe expired in seconds. This is Chris's first whitetail with a bow. He is from McKinney, Texas is a Human Resource consultant for his family's business. 

Chris has been a member of BowhuntingTalk.com since '06. His talk name is "txbowhunter." He said, "This was a blast. Good people. Adam is a good kid and I'm glad to be part of an opportunity for him."

Timm Getts hunted a ladderstand overlooking a power line right of way. He watched a doe for a long time and when it came out of the woods it stopped and returned to the woods but didn't leave. Another doe went to it. Then they moved away quickly.

Two wild hogs came in, a black one and spotted one. The black one offered a good broadside shot and Timm came to full draw and aimed for the heart. He released and the hog raced into the trees across from Timm and crashed loudly. Timm text paged Casey -- back in camp -- and told him he had shot a hog. Casey texted him back and said they would come and get him. Timm text messaged him back to wait because the does were returning.

Ricky Burnett went to a Double Bull for his last afternoon bowhunt. He has harvested a 10-point buck and a wild hog and wants to doe to make his "triple." He saw another bomber buck chasing a doe in the woods. Six more bucks worked a scrape and chased the does in the area as the afternoon passed.

Ricky got down early and on the way to where he would be picked up he saw a doe standing and looking the opposite way. Ricky made a careful stalk and arrowed the doe.
