Here is the official Bowhunting.net internet reporting and web updating headquarters for the 2006 Bowhunting.net Bowhunt with Billy Don at Wild Horse Prairie Ranch. Wedged in between the cherios and two dining tables. Bare bones, I suppose, but I've set up on the floor and on the ground the woods before with my laptop on my lap connected to my cell phone as it struggles to maintain a signal. At Billy Don's we have wireless broadband. Not many years ago when I went to a hunt I was the only one with a computer. These days there are always other laptop bowhunters around camp. The remaining days of the hunt I spent two more days at the well and them moved the blind twice to follow the deer activity. When I return I have a handle on the area's deer movement and plan on surprising them later in the season.  Everyone else hunted hard and shifted their attention to bagging the big one. They all saw 'em but nobody got a shot. The Duck got a surprise when he climbed down from his treestand. A rattlesnake sounded off right by the tree. Acting quickly, the Duck had a surprise of his own for the rattler. Part of the hunt is the end of it. Fred and Mike loaded their gear in my pickup so I could take them to the airport. Since we were inside the truck we had to stack it high in the back. To make sure everything would stay put we used some of the handiest items there are for traveling, the Rope Ratchet. If you are not familiar with these easy to use tie-downs you should check them out at your local hardware store. No more struggling with cinch straps with their infernal crank gizmo.  The Rope Ratchet has two hooks. One has an adjustable ratchet. All you do it attach the hooks to each side of your load and then pull the line snug. The ratchet locks down tight. And it has a release lever when you want to unload. (www.RopeRatchet.com)  The Duck uses Rope Ratchets to keep the lid from flying off his hunting stuff when he is running down the road. The next move was to say good-bye to all and take Fred and Mike to the airport. This year's Bowhunting.net bowhunt was another super time with friends.
