Annual Bowhunting.net Bowhunt - 2006
Day #5: Fred Gets Ready This hunt is very special and I wanted to make special arrows. I chose Maxima Hunter carbon shafts from Carbon Express. I used the new reflective arrow wraps from New Archery Products and fletched my arrows with TrufFlite 5 1/2 inch shield shaped feathers. On the business end I used Grim Reaper 125 grain 3 blade broadheads. We are filming this hunt for Bowhunting.net's new TV show. Like the Army's motto I wanted to "be all I could be." I'm a serious outdoorsman. I choose my equipment carefully. I want the best I can get. I had the privilege of visiting
the Carbon Express factory this past June in Korea. I witnessed the manufacturing
and testing of Carbon Express arrows. The testing part included testing
other company's arrow shafts as well as Eastman's shafts. I was blown away
by the high standards used to make Carbon Express arrows. I was also blown
away by the superior ranking of these arrows in comparison to their competitors.
My choice of arrow shafts was easy. I chose the best shafts available,
the Carbon Express Maxima Hunter.
Fletched all white really helps me watch my arrow flight. I know my point of impact. This set up will show your arrow flight while filming. I used Grim Reaper broadheads
this spring while wild turkey hunting. My arrow flight was perfect. They
flew exactly like my field points. I want to use them on big game and this
hunt will give me that chance.
If this sounds like a mis-match of companies products, it isn't. It is a mixture of several companies products but it all comes together as one fine shooting machine. This is the results of standards set long ago by the AMO to make sure different companies products would universally match and work on other companies products. Owning an archery pro shop (Freddie Bear Sports) gives me the opportunity to try different equipment. This in-field use gives me first hand knowledge to properly advise my customers about available equipment.
