Arrival Day

I loaded up my gear and cinched the big stuff in place with a couple of Rope Ratchets and headed my truck for this year's Annual Bowhunting.net Bowhunt with Billy Don at Wild Horse Prairie Ranch in Burnet, Texas. 

Billy Don was picking up Fred Lutger and Chef Klaus at 4"30 at the Waco airport and I arrived at the ranch two hours earlier. Here is the front gate.

I unhooked the Rope Ratchets and set out the jumbo Cube target I had brought with me. Then I unloaded my bow case, duffle bag and hunting gear.

Later the Duck arrived and we drove into town to meet Billy Don, Fred and Mike at   8:15. We ate at a big Mexican restaurant named Diegos. Everybody agreed it was good stuff.

The hunt begins tomorrow morning (Saturday) and Billy Don's ranch hands had last minute work to do. At noon we drove into Burnet and ate lunch at the Christmas Cafe. I ate two bowl of Tortilla soup. Afterward Billy Don drove us to HEB so Fred Lutger and Chef Klaus could buy their non-resident licenses.

Roy Keefer was the first hunter to arrive. People continued arriving and at 6:00 the Duck took a group picture.

At dinner time the Duck served up Frito Pie and Pineapple Upside Down Cake. Then Billy Don and I surprised everyone with a commemorative T-shirt for our 2006 hunt. 

We gave all the bowhunters a T-shirt. 

Once again the company Wildlife Research Center has shown their support of our annual hunt by sending a generous variety of Scent Killer and Deer Scent products for every single bowhunter on the hunt. We passed out 20 different items to each hunter. Believe me, Wildlife Research Center made some friends here today.

Before dinner Tyge Floyd and Blaine Covington arrived and they showed the pilot for the upcoming Bowhunting.net TV Show. 

Everyone visited for probably longer than we needed to, considering the first day of the hunt is tomorrow and 4:30am will come real early.
