Jordan - ATSKO
Mike Jordan is a bowhunter, he insists that his products work for hunters. Mike showed us his new product "N-O-Dor Odor Oxidizer ". It destroys all odors on skin, hair, clothing, mouth, footwear and gear. It is the only scent eliminator that you can spray on your skin and even in your mouth. Mike said to spray your boots and legs of your pants. Spray your gloves when you start to the stand and before you climb up to the stand.
These are not baking soda products. Many scent eliminator products ingrediants include baking soda. Baking soda draws odor but it releases it when it contacts moisture (water). Mike told us, "If you leave nothing on your body deer can not smell you. N-O-Dor Oxidizer and Powder do not leave a residue." It takes you 8 hours to build up bacteria on your body if you start totally clean. SOAPS: If you wash your clothes in a brand name detergent they will gain weight, up to 2%, after they dry. This is because the detergent leaves a residue in the clothing. The detergent, even if it has no scent, leaves 17 millimeters of residue in the clothes. Also, detergents have color brightness that increase UIV in the fabric. SPORT WASH - was developed for the hunting industry and crossed over into the medical industry because it rinsed 100% and eliminated allergic reaction and irratation cauysed by the residue in name brand detergents. Sport-Wash is a special formula that goes into the fibers and is lifted out in rinsing. It leaves no residue. One ounce is all you need to clean a large load of your clothing. And fabric softeners are never necessary. Sport Wash contains no UV. UV - We have a UV filter in our eyes. Deer do not. At a deer's peak of vision they see UV. If your clothing has UV brighteners, either added by the manufacturer or from washing in detergent, deer will see it as a bright blue glow. A deer can distinguish different odors. If you use a cover scent that other hunters have frequently used in that area then deer will learn that scent and associate it with hunters. UV-KILLER - is a spray that eliminates UV glow and is perminant. Mike demonstrated UV with various garments and archery gear using a light with a wave length of 380 nanometers. It is the only way to create how deer see.
In the 50's detergent makers began adding UV brighteners to their products that reflect light up into a spectrum where the washed clothes look whiter and with brighter colors. Dry cleaning can be ok if they use the right type of drying process, non odorless quickdry. We have a UV filter in our eye because we are active during the daytime. Deer are noctournal and do not have the UV filter. Mike gave us the url www.vischeck.com -- a web site to see pictures as color blind animals or people see them. Afterwards I interviewed Mike Jordon and here is the interview. Mike Jordan -
ATSKO - INTERVIEW
Mike's passion for hunting gave him insight into projects for the company. Atsko is a unique company. The people who work there stay because the working environment is All the Atsko/Sno-Seal product are formulated and manufactured in house and Sno-Seal was introduced to the market in 1933. Even today Atsko formulates all their own products and manufacturers it as well. When Mike joined Atsko they had the Sport-Wash product. It had taken 2 years to get the formula so it completely washes away all odors and leaves no residue in the fabric. When it was introduced in the hunting market it was "a success from day one." Sport-Wash is readily available around the word. It has been successful in the medical market where it is know as Sensi-Clean. A new product Permanent Water Guard will bead and repel water for 25 washings. Water Guard Extreme is a brand new product that has UV and Mildew protection in the formula. When it spray on tents and outdoor gear the equipment will not rot from sun damage or mildew. Mike has bowhunted for 29 years. He got interested while in the military and it added a whole new dimension to his hunting. He was a late convert to the compound bow when he switched over 7 years ago. Mike said, "I have enjoyed 98% of the people I have met in the hunting industry. The people I met and meet in hunting camps are considerate and good people. I am concerned about the future of hunting. The availability of land to hunt. The monetary investment that has to be put out for hunting is more than a young family can afford and that inhibits involving kids. We need the kids. I am a hunter education instructor in South Carolina as well as lending support to Women In The Outdoors." "Any time you take an animal with a bow and you consciously made the decision to take it, regardless of how large it is, that animal is a trophy." "The thrill of hunting, whether you get it or your buddy gets it, that's part of hunting. You remember your misses or close calls more vividly than the ones you actually got." "Find out where clubs and knowledgeable people are. All the books in the world won''t prepare you to hunt. You have to have a mentor. Find a bowhunter, even as a rifle hunter the bowhunter will show you more about the animal and the hunt. And enjoy your time hunting. I don't care if you see a buck or a doe. Watch the animals wake up in the morning. Enjoy it." 2006 Bowhunting.net Deer Hunt Sponsors
