Keeping Up With Big Boy 10 ... With
Pictures
The BuckEye Cam transmitted
more interesting pictures on November 23. A mature buck at 1:19.
A buck fight breaks out
at 1:23 and it continues.
Two minutes and one second
into the scuffle.
And the camera catches them
again after my presed 30 second delay.
Pictures continued caming
in, even some daytime ones, and on November 27 Big Boy 10 showed up again.
I decided to get back to the Last Hay Barn area and see if I could hunt
there.
MOVING AROUND THE CORNER
Back on with the Elimitrax
over boots and I went scentlessly to the camera location. The Last Hay
Barn is all tin and about 20 feet long and 8 wide. There is a wide door
on the North side and the entire East side is open. I figured I could put
a Double Bull in the tin Barn and the easiest place to do it would be the
East end. So I moved the BuckEye Cam around the fence corner to watch the
trails on that side of the hay barn. It turned out to be a real good idea.
Again, on with the Elimitrax
over boots and back to the BuckEye cam. The weeds in front of the camera
had to be cut, they were messing up the pictures. I took loppers with me
and cut down the obstructions. The next two days most of the pictures were
of does and a few young bucks.
The Pics Couldn't Have Been Better...
On November 3 my hunting
buddy Robbie Cramer was down and we were talking when I noticed that the
computer was receiving a picture. I brought it up.
It sent 3 more pictueres.
It was Big Boy 10 and he was currently 150 yards from my food plot, and
probably checking for doe activity in the area. At 10:25 it took this picture
and Robbie and I were checking it out.
He apparently walked past
the BuckEye Cam and at 10:29 came by again on a closer trail. When this
picture compled transmiting Robbie and I were bug eyed. And you could have
heard a pin drop.
Big Boy 10 took a few steps
closer and 30 seconds later the camera took this close up. This was the
last picture.
Last year I used the BuckEye
Cam to watch the food plot and took pictures of this swell buck, he was
an 8-point then. He hasn't been on either the CamTrakker or the BuckEye
pictuers so far this year. But obvously he is still in the area.
I had to go to Illinois again
for the 2nd Writers Camp hunt and returned on November 18. When my computer
downloaded the pictures from the BuckEye cam there were additional night
time pictues of Big Boy 10.
On November 19th I had my
first daylight sighting of Big Boy 10 during mid afternoon. A big, wide
antlered buck with a heavy rack (that resembled the June Big Boy buck from
3 years ago) was all over a doe. Big Boy 10 was also close at hand but
did not interfer with the wider racked buck.
I needed to move fast and
locate a place -- that was huntable -- that Big Boy 10 or another mature
buck was using during daylight hunting hours.
