Dec 23 - Afternoon - The CamTrakker Finds A Bomber

I checked the CamTrakker at the Point and slid the memory stick in my digital camera to view it. Everything skidded to a halt. A bomber buck was here at 10:22am -- an hour and a half ago.

In the next picture, taken seconds later, he was in the same place. I cropped the picture so you can see this buck better.

He is definitely focused on something on the opposite side of the fence. It is 10:27. He moved out of the range of the camera''s sensor because there were no more pictures for 49 minutes.

At 11:16 a doe walks right in front of the CamTrakker.

And still at 11:16 our buck stops and looks as he gets his picture taken.

Wow!

I went to work. First I collected a Double Bull blind and then cut dozens of cedar branches with limb clippers. Back at the Point I set up the ground blind so I could shoot where the buck is standing in the picture. Then I stacked and hung the cedar limbs around the blind and camouflaged it.

When the blind was ready I jumped in my truck and as quickly as our bumpy woods road would let me I went home and took a shower, jammed on my hunting clothes and drove to the place I hide my truck when I hunt at the Point. Thirty yards from the blind a group of wild turkeys walked around some trees and we saw each other. I was in the blind at 2:16.

I brought my laptop to do a little work to catch up on the last two day's hunts. I made a wallpaper of this bomber buck and put it on my computer. Then  I sized some for you. 800x600 or 1024x768 or 1280x800 or 1280x960 or 1600x1200

After that I couldn't concentrate. I was too stoked for this bomber buck and his young doe to show back up.

But he didn't. And nothing else did either.

Ahhhhhhhh, but that's part of it. Everything can't be a home run. Life is good. And I will be back ... tomorrow.
