What
To Do Now?
In case you haven't noticed, the deer movement has gone to heck. Yesterday (Dec 21) and this morning (Dec 22) I did not see a single buck, or doe, or wild turkey. After I took the 78 yard pic of Wide-8 things have been hard pickings. Yesterday I cut some cedar limbs and pulled them up to the treestand at Alex's Road (I saw 12 does here on the 18th but couldn't get a shot). Then I trimmed a few limbs so I can get an arrow out of the treestand when I see deer here. On the 18th I moved the CamTrakker
to the Point, and area that has been a producer for over 20 years. I checked
it every day and had no pictures. However, on my way in from yesterday
afternoons hunt at the river ridge I stopped and checked it. There were
recent pictures. I swapped the disk and brought it back to see it on my
laptop. There were pic s of a spike and a small 8-point before 5:00. A
solo doe was next. Then the 7-point buck below triggered the CamTrakker
for one picture when the sun was low and above the treetops.
Also... Traffic through my Food Plot
area went to zilch, even at night for a few days in a row. The last pictures
my BuckEye Cam
took were of a handful of few deer on the 17th, one of which was this late
night long tined 8-point that is new to our mix.
The season has 16 days left. I think it's time to look around in some other areas and let the CamTrakker and BuckEye Cam keep me up to date on activity at the Point and the Food Plot.
