Last Week Of November - Part 3

Dickie Wicker was at my front door bright and early. The temperature was in the 30's and it was calm and foggy. The fog cleared on our way to the Point. We got in my Double Bull Matrix ground blind (Double Bull Hunting Blinds). A young buck walked by us on the opposite side of the nearby fence soon after 8:00.

I tapped Dickie on the shoulder and pointed to a lone doe approaching the fence. It stepped through the bottom wires in front of the blind. 

The doe took a quick drink of water, too quick to get a pic, a few yards from the blind. It turned and walked parallel to the fence and into the slightly more open area to our left.

Another doe came through the fence. It didn't drink. But it started walking along the fence. Here is a pic as it stopped in front of the TrailTimer EZ-Cam game camera (TRAILTIMER). This doe has a bump of some kind in the middle of its head and you can see it in this picture. 

Just then a young buck trotted up and stopped.

I turned in my seat to take the above picture and made a little noise. The buck looked in my direction, but didn't see any problem.

He was more concerned about the bump head doe, anyway. He scooted along the fence and ducked through a hole in the wires. The doe walked back to the water in front of the blind. The buck stopped a few steps from the TrailTimer and watched the doe watching him.

The buck trotted toward the doe and they both went into the brush behind the blind.

No wild turkeys came. We saw 2 more young bucks, 3 more does, and a nice 8-point 80 yards away that was scent trailing a doe before we called it quits at 11:00am. (The pictures were so similar to these pictures I didn't add them.)

We drove to town and ate the lunch special at the Red Barn Restaurant. Dickie had never hunted in a Double Bull ground blind and he was totally impressed with it. He told several of the regulars about "having deer all around us this morning at practically arm's length."

I was an hour late returning for the afternoon hunt and spooked a doe and nice 8-point that were drinking my water. No turkeys showed but as daylight faded into the "you can still see a little but can't shoot" zone three different deer came to my water and took their time leaving. Once everything was clear I slipped out and hurried to my truck.
