MORNING: 
Because Christmas is almost here I only hunted until 8:00. Then I changed clothes and drove to town for some last minute presents. Here is a pic of the buck I saw this morning.

AFTERNOON: The Wild Turkey Waiting Room  
The Ridge was quiet at 2:00 when I got to my Double Bull Matrix (Double Bull Hunting Blinds).

Since the HotTrails is working so well lately I lit a Persimmon candle, put it in the lantern, and reached through the blind's window and hung it on a nearby twig. (HotTrails)

Almost 3 hours before "Deer Thirty" these two different young bucks walked out of the trees and filled their noses with the Persimmon scent. One comment I have about the Persimmon HotTrails is deer seem very at ease around its smell.    

At 3:48 a hen walked out from behind the big cedar 14 yards in front ot me.   

More followed. Two were bearded hens.

Here they two bearded hens are again.

Apparently the flock was on a mission. They walked across the clearing to some trees 18.5 yards away. (I know that because I checked it with my Nikon Laser 500 rangefinder).

Once there the turkeys found a comfy place and sat down! It was exactly 4:05.

They sat quietly until 4:24 when they began to stir and make soft yelps and putts.

Other groups of wild turkeys came into the area. 

They walked into view from all directions. The turkeys got more vocal.   

Two two year old bearded gobblers walked by my blind. I held out.  

Still more wild turkeys came. They were really talking now and they gathered in the opening about 30 yards from my blind. The aforementioned cedar tree that is 14 yards away was between me ant them and I couldn't get a picture of the huge group of turkeys that were collecting in the opening.

A group of jakes hot footed it out of the trees.

They walked briskly up to some hens and kept on going to the opening.

If you can imagine the picture below times forty yards full of wild turkeys you have the idea of what was happening. There had to be over 100 wild turkeys on the ridge with me. They began flying up, right from where they were on the ridge, into the trees along the river.

They really yelped it up too. I waited until it was dark enough to slip out unnoticed and went to my truck.

It was truly amazing to be there and see and hear them this afternoon. What a wonderful day in the wild turkey woods.
