Deer Hunt - A Bowhunt In Progress
The
2004 Bow Season - Late October
Oct 30 - Setting Up Secret
Spot #4

(L) Looking in Secret
Spot #2 looks like a dense area. (R) But 60 yards in the woods it opens
up and deer traffic through here is regular.
The TrailTimer pictures
of Secret
Spot #4 found a hidden corridor deer are using. This is a half
mile long, thick, narrow strip of woods bordered by a river on one side
and a field on the other. To set this area up I picked out a tree that
was close to where I had the TrailTimer and got to work.
After lunch today I used
a Rising Starr climbing pole from NorthStarr
Treestands. First I put the 4 sections together, nothing to it. Then
I leaned it against the tree and tightened the first strap.

This was my first
time using this rig. I found it to be quick and easy to put on the tree.

The Rising Starr fastens
with ratchet straps. They tightened easily and in short order I was pulling
up the treestand. This climbing pole

The Boss Starr is the treestand
I used. It is a NorthStarr also and it went on in a jiffy. The stand has
a seat that pivots and as you can see in the picture below the turning
mechanism is a substantial base. The seat doesn't wobble or squeak when
you turn.

So Secret Spot #4 is good
to go. Just like Arnold, I'll be back.
AFTERNOON HUNT:
After setting up Secret Spot #4 I took a shower, put on my hunting stuff
and returned to the Double Bull stand where I saw the 8 point on Oct 28.
The day had been overcast but the sun came out and it got hot. There was
no deer movement here today.
