Dec
4 - Freak In The Daylight
Morning: Three
does browsed in the food plot until sunrise. At good light a young 7-pt
came out of the draw and walked toward the food plot.
Once there he chowed down.
He walked around and I got
this picture of him with his tongue sticking way out of his mouth. I don't
have a clue what he's doing but it makes a cool picture. A doe came down
the hill and the young buck took off after her.
A different young buck came
from my right and began browsing.
As I took his picture I
see him go on alert and I look to see what he is looking at.
It is the Freak buck. There
is good camera light this time and unless he leaves I plan on getting some
pictures of this unique buck right now.
The young buck walks to
the Freak and cows to him. Check out the difference in size between this
first year deer and the mature Freak. For this picture (below) in Wallpaper
sizes: (1024
x 768) or (800
x 600) or (640
x 480)
The youngster keeps on walking
and the Freak nibbles on the food plot's green goodies and then gives me
a perfect picture.

Food
Plot
With the coming of the killing
frost much of the lush vegetation and huge crop of acorns on the ground
have died or gone bad. My green food plot really stands out now in Early
December. I worked with Mike Massey of PlotSpike
Seed to be sure I planted what would grow well in our area. Mike
suggested PlotSpike Forage Oats and Premium Mix. We planted the oats first
and then made 3 small strips of the Premium Mix. The Premium Mix started
growing in 3 days. The oats, however, didn't come up until the summer heat
cooled and we had a real gully washer rain. Then it leaped out of the ground.
Wild Turkeys cover the plot
from the get go. Deer came intermittently. Until now. The joint is jumping.
