Wayne L. Smith

Wayne hunted the same stand for 5 afternoons in a row. The bait was hit every day but Wayne saw no bears. On the 6th hunt a bear came in at 7:50. This was the last hunt for Wayne and he decided to take the bear. It turned and walked to the bait bucket which was in fron of the bait pile, which was in line for a good shot from the treestand. The bear stopped and looked up at Wayne as Wayne released the arrow. It passed through the vitals, right where he wanted it. The bear did a forward summersault and took off running and circled to the left. The sound stopped 60 yards away. We recovered the bear there in the morning.

Advice to new bear hunters: Practice shooting different types of shots, different aqnbles, different distances. shoot your broadheads and your field points. When you shoot wear everything you wear when you hunt. Keep practicing until you are confident that you are ready to make a quick kill. And don't give up. My hunt is a prime example, I shot my bear in the last half hour of the last night of the hunt.
