Jim Mitchell (JimboTX)
JimboTX checked his bait the 3rd morning and the bait was hit again. He returned to hunt at 6:30 and it was hit during the day. Jim baited and made a bacon and honey burn. At 7:00 he saw a bear walking 60 yards away in the brush. Jim got in shooting position and waited. Twenty minutes later the bear appeared in the original spot but this time it was walking away. Then it turned to the right. Jim figured it was checking the wind -- so he held tight and stayed ready. When Jim saw the bear again it was right below him. It went right to the bacon burn. It burnt the bears nose and it ran  whirled around and ran under Jim's tree. It returned to the bait. It was a large bear and Jim waited for a shoot opportunity. With it's right paw it shoved a log off the pile, and moved another log with its left paw. That opened up the bears vitals. Jim drew when the bear put his left leg forward. Jim's pin settled behind the shoulder and squeezed the shot off. The bear whirled to the right and bounded down the trail Jim had come up on. And dropped in 12 yards with a death moan. Jim picked up his arrow and went to the bear.

This is Jim's bear number three. "Bear hunting is exciting, a rush. This is the second bear hunt I've been on with Fred Lutger. He runs an excellent camp and is very knowledgeable about bears and the area he hunts. I like the online hunting stories and new equipment news and reviews,"

"I look at Bowhunting.net every morning when I get up to see what is going on in the bowhunting world on that day. Then I check it at night to keep up with the updates."

Advice to new bear hunters:  "If you have an active bait, stay there. Don't move from bait to bait; the bear will be back."
