Day #2 - Mike Ditchler - The Skunk Bear Surprise At 8:10 we saw a bear coming from the direction the earlier bear had exited. I glassed it and told Mike that it had blond hair on it's back. The bear walked toward us just as slick as you please, navigating through the ferns and thick ground level cover. Mike drew as the bear stepped into the clear. It took a few steps and quite cooperatively, stopped 12 yards in front of us ... broadside.

Mike's arrow popped through the bear's vitals, a perfect shot. It bolted straight away from us ... and promptly piled up in the brush 15 in yards. We heard the death moan immediately. The bear was done so we got down, tied our drag ropes to it, and pulled it to the edge of the road. Daylight was gone by then and we took a flash picture.  We noted that while this bear had a blond mane, it was a different bear the one we had seen earlier.
