let 2 other hunters off before going to his stand. The bait had not been
hit and the Trailtimer was not triggered. A bear walked through the area.
At 7:00 a large bear came down the path Rich had walked in on and went
right to the bait, smelled the bait, and turned quartering away. Rich drew,
aimed, and shot the bear. "It was a real good shot, a perfect quartering
away shot."
The bear charged through the bait crib and ran uphill. Rich heard the death moan and checked his watch, it was 7:58. The bear was 40 yards from the bait. Rich has hunted bear 4 times and has taken one other bear. He stated, "I think bear hunting is great. Being out in the wilderness and with his buddies. Seeing a bear is an adrenaline rush, you gotta experience it to understand it." |
