6th Day Of The Hunt
We went to the Duck's stand site early in the morning. Don pointed out to us where the bear had been and the general direction it had ran. I saw a bait bucket lying in the brush and went over to pick it up. There was blood on it ... and on the ground. I told Fred I had the blood trail and circled. A spec of blood was in a nearby trail. Down the trail was the huge black belly of a really big black bear. I called out, "Don, here's your bear. I thought you shot a big bear, this is a small bear."

Don was 45 yards away and just laughed. He knew better. And, as you can also see, this is one exceptionally big, black bear.

The hunt resumes tomorrow. At this point Mike Ditschler is the only remining bear bowhunter. Plus, now, Fred Lutger can spend some time in one of his treestands.
