Hunt Wrap Up
"Twice I got into wild pigs and had multiple daily opportunities to stalk & shoot javelina. I've got to say that the Nilgai (by the way, it's pronounced neal-guy) is truly a most wary animal. It doesn't wait around when it identifies a human. The moment one pegs you, it's gone at break neck speed, and doesn't stop running. They are the hardest game animal I've ever tried stalking, yet was able to get within 30 yards of several my last day. Although our group did not get a Nilgai there were other Nilgai hunters in camp and 11 were taken during our stay. Dr. Dave, Crabby & I hunted them the hardest during our trip, and it was common for each of us to see dozens of different animals each day. It took us a couple of days to find productive Nilgai areas and then figure out how to hunt them and get within bow range. I'm confident that had we spent one more full day hunting we would have one or more hanging on the game pole." "Our hosts, Wayne & Jarred Peeples deserve tremendous credit for creating a bowhunters utopia. The experiences we enjoyed were no accident. Immeasurable work went into their operation, game management program and comfortable accommodations. All of us at Deerhunting.Net would like to tell them, 'Thank You'!" "We have a saying here in Texas that means Outstanding, Awesome, Fantastic & Unbelievable. That saying best describes our hunt with here, and that is, "It'll knock your hat in the creek!" - Zano | Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3 | Day 4 | Day 5 |
For this hunt you're going with Dennis Crabtree, Steve Bartylla, Zan D. Christensen, Dr. David Samuel, and me me, Robert Hoague, the “Q&A Answer Guys” of Deerhunting.Net. This will be the first time we've been together or hunted together as a group. Tomorrow we will go the King Ranch and begin our bowhunt for the Indian Antelope, the Nilgai. |
