The Whitetail Rut Is On Right Now . . . . More Rut Sign.

A quick look around on the hillside and we notice that there are a bunch of rubs within 40 yards of this scrape. Not all of them were made this year either, scrapes with old dried wood and bark are scattered around too, which is one of the tip offs that this is a Core Rutting Area.

Bucks make scores of Rubs but normally they are scattered around.all over their range. Sometimes you will find a few in a line, often they will mark a trail into a thick area. But setting up on every Rub you see will not be productive the majority of the time. But if you find 3 or 4 dozen Rubs, both old and new, you may well have found a Core Rutting area. Check it as the season progresses.
