The Whitetail Rut Is On Right Now
The Rut's First "Meaningful" Scrapes Of The 1999 Season.

On the ground, under the overhanging cedar limbs we see a freshly made scrape.  In fact, we see two different scrapes under this tree.

A NOTE: these scrapes are made in the native grass that grows in the December Tree clearing. These scrapes look different than scrapes made in leaves. Scrapes made in leaves will be all dirt because the leaves are scrapped away. But a scrape in grass will have some sprigs of grass in the dirt that they are roughed up by the pawing of the Bucks and Does that work the scrape. (Yes, Does work scrapes too).

Things are looking good. Let's look around the immediate area a bit more.
