The second tournament of the year for the ASA was held February 28 – March 2 in Fort Mitchell Alabama. The scores were tight and the competition was very tough. When the winners were announced, Art Brown won the championship in the Senior Pro class.
Art Brown is a very tough competitor, and this week he once again proved that very point. Brown trailed by 6 points going into the shoot off and he made up that difference and then some to capture his first win of the season. Brown had a final score of 486-20 to get the win. Second place went to Tom Crowe with a score of 485-17 and Duane Price finished in third with a score of 483-17. Mathews finished with eight of the top ten finishers in the class. The rest of the top ten included: Randall Jones, 462-10, 4th place; Joe Brooks, 413-12, 6th place; Tipton Cook, 412-14, 7th place; Phil Long and Bill Ruck tied for 8th place with a score of 412-11.
In the Women’s Pro class, the top Mathews finisher was Kailey Johnston. Johnston had a final score of 445-8 and finished in second place. Sharon Carpenter finished in third place with a score of 445-7. Mathews finished with four of the top ten finishers in the class. The rest of the top ten included: Connie Griffin, 439-7, 5th place and Emily Veyna, 392-11 in 7th place.
In the Open Pro class, the top Mathews finisher was Dan McCarthy. McCarthy had a final score of 428-18 and finished in 6th place. Mathews finished with four of the top ten finishers in the class. The rest of the top ten included: Justin Bethel and Jeff Hopkins tied for 7th place with a score of 428-17 and Tommy Gomez has a final score of 426-15 and finished in 10th place.
