Robert and I had a great hunt.  We saw some real nice bucks at close range.  I hope all of you enjoy the pictures Robert put up.

On my ranch here in Texas we have worked hard at taking the bucks to that next level.  The best advice I can give everyone is,  if they want to have good bucks, don’t shoot them until they are at least 4 years old.  So many times hunters don’t have the funds for protein, food plots, and various management programs and this is why letting a buck reach a mature status can make the difference.

The two days we hunted were extremely wet.  We did not let the rain stop us.  We hung in there and grinded it out and saw some nice bucks and some good wild hogs.  The hog in the picture that Robert put up on the first hunt came in to me and I had him at 8 yards,  he would not give me a good shot so I passed. Maybe I will seem him again.  He is a dandy boar.

I had a nice nine pointer in good bow range but passed because he was only 3.5 years of age.  This deer will be a good one next year.

As I alluded to earlier, it was very rainy during this hunt.  Robert and I hunkerd down in my two Blind Turtle Blinds.  It was nice to  stay dry and actually be there the second the rain stopped.

Robert was hunting my city stand, which is a Blind Turtle.  He said minutes after the rain stopped a nice ten point wandered by. Also check out this good eight pointer that came by me at eight yards, this is the management deer that Robert is hunting for.  This deer is 5.5 years old.

Stay tuned as Robert and I are going to head back out to my ranch the week after Christmas.  I wish all reading this a very Merry Christmas and a healthy new year.
